Aurora Niva may seem to be the name of a person, presumably the name of the designer of this label. But that isn't quite the case. It rather exemplifies a basic aesthetic guideline of our design language expressed in two Latin words.
Aurora – that is the warm and welfare red light of the dawn.
Niva (short for “nivalis”) – that is the frail white snow mantle on a cold winter's day.
The juxtaposition of these two opposites resemble the strong contrasts and the playful antagonism of light, shadow, colour and shape that leave their marks on all of our designs.
The stellar-shaped logo melds aspects of Eastern and Western arts. It may remind of the complex North African mosaic tiles that lusciously decorate Moroccan riads, or it may as well remind of a graceful quatrefoil tracery like we find them in French gothic cathedrals. Thereby it exemplifies another aspect of our design characteristics – an uncoerced and playful examination of different artistic influences.
Our current collection highlights aspects of the Ottoman textile arts from the 15th to the 17th century.
